Whether you are looking for the 2019 Ford Edge or the 2019 Ford Escape, know that both SUVs are 5-passenger crossovers. In order to understand which one is the best bet for you, here’s a quick rundown of the various similarities and differences between the two:

·      Exterior design

Both the Edge and Escape flaunt a tasteful styling that exudes a sporty appeal. The Escape has the trapezoidal grille, a signature of Blue Oval. The SE model is equipped with dual rear exhausts and fog lights.

The Edge sports a more muscular appeal than the Escape. The SE and Titanium trims offer a chrome grille, while the latest ST trim has a blacked-out makeup. Less traditional taillights replace the wrap-around rear taillight of the car. The ST trim gets a distinct rear valence, unique wheels and ST badging icon the tailgate and grille. 

·      Interiors

The Ford Edge has a more interior compared to the Escape. Each trim level is equipped with an LCD screen for its center infotainment system and an added one in the gauge cluster. 

The Edge features flat surfaces and large matte black plastic swaths that are complemented by aluminum trim. A center-mounted gauge in the infotainment screen comes standard with the SE and SEL models. With the Titanium and Sport models, one center-mounted indicator is included. The Titanium and ST models come standard with an 8.0-in infotainment screen, optional on SEL models.

·      Engine

Entry-level Escapes have a 2.5-liter, 4-cylinder engine providing 168 horsepower and 170 lb-ft of torque. SE and SEL models have a 1.5-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder delivering 179 hp and 177 lb-ft of torque. Currently, the Escape Titanium has a 2.0-liter turbo-4 providing 245 hp and 275 lb-ft of torque.

Meanwhile, the SE, SEL, and Titanium models of the Edge come with a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder turbo rated at 245 horsepower and 275 lb-ft of torque. Also, the ST trim has a 2.7-liter turbocharged V6 providing 335 horsepower and 380 lb-ft of torque.
