If you are researching your market options for a stylish five-seater mid-size sedan that comes packed with great safety features, then you should take a closer look at the new Ford Fusion. The first Fusion was launched in 2013 and this year’s model is the second generation edition. There are five exceptionally good looking trims you can choose from with over a dozen permutations. From a hybrid version to a sporty model with a killer powertrain, the choice is endless.

What has improved since the last upgrade?

A lot. For one, the new Ford Fusion has an even better facade with subtle tweaks to both the front and back of the vehicle, it is more noticeable than ever. In addition, this year, the onboard Sync 3 infotainment interactive interface has both Waze and Alexa integration and Wi-Fi is also available as well.

Probably the most important feature update this year is an absolutely new Co-Pilot360 Safety system that includes Pre-Collision Assist, automatic high beams, Automatic Emergency Braking and Lane Keep Assist. A standout feature worth mentioning is Ford’s MyKey technology. It employs multiple keys to establish different parameters for anyone else who might use the car like your children or grandchildren.

Last but definitely not the least, though the base 2.5 –liter engine has remained the same from last year, Ford have added on three additional upgrades to the premium trims, including a 2.7-liter V6 turbocharged engine, which is a seriously good powertrain. Plus with the hybrid and hybrid plug-in variants, there is a host of options to cater to everyone’s needs.

How does it hold up against its competition?

The new Ford Fusion fares very well in the braking and handling departments, while very few cars in its class actually do. In addition, the cabin is nice and spacious with plenty of small storage and the trunk is massive. Added to this is the fact that the front seats are so comfortable, you can actually go for a long, relaxing road-trip in this mid-size sedan.

Is it worth the buy?
